EMU College of Business and Google Partnership
for
Non-Profit Organization Adword Campaigns

Introduction

The College of Business and Google have partnered to develop a program to assist non-profit organizations with Google AdWords entitled Search Marketing with Google AdWords.  In January 2008, Professor Bud Gibson at EMU offered the first course in this program. In this first-of-its-kind course, students helped non-profits discover new audiences and markets for their services, frequently resulting in significant improvements in web site traffic and performance.

This first course has been repeated in Fall 2008 and Winter 2009 with similar results. It will continue to be offered each semester, and we encourage non-profits to apply so they might be eligible to participate.

How Can Your Non-Profit Become Involved?

The EMU Search Marketing with Google AdWords program currently works exclusively with non-profit recipients of Google Grants. To apply for a Google Grant, visit:http://google.com/grants. Each term, we work with a new slate of recent grantees identified to us by Google.

Participating in the EMU Search Marketing with Google Adwords Program

Once Google has assigned you to us, Bud Gibson, the professor leading the program, will contact you. The EMU Search Marketing with Google AdWords program requires the following from its participants:

1.

A contact person who will set aside on average one hour per week for interacting with students and who will attend three milestone presentations during the semester.

2.

Student control of the AdWords account for the duration of the non-profit’s participation in the AdWords in the Curriculum program.

Success of the program depends on students autonomously testing hundreds of keyword and ad variations.  Students present their progress in class weekly and are expected to interact regularly with non-profits. This process generally ensures a high rate of satisfaction for both non-profit and student participants.

Although we make every effort to work productively with the non-profits Google assigns to us, we reserve the right to terminate our work with you and return the AdWords account to your control at any time. You are also free to retake control of the AdWords account and exit the program at any time.

We wish you success in your AdWords endeavors and look forward to the possibility of working with you!
